BMW E36 cup holders installed in ashtray replacement

The BMW E36 Interior Refresh: Cup Holders, Chargers, and Small Details That Age Well

The BMW E36 (1990–2000) is the chassis a whole generation of enthusiasts learned to drive on. It's cheap enough to be a first BMW, tough enough to survive being one, and honest enough that people who've since moved on to newer cars still keep an E36 in the garage. It's also thirty years old now, and the interior is exactly where that shows.

Missing cup holders, sagging button covers, empty switch slots where nothing was ever installed from the factory. Our E36 range is designed to fix the parts of the interior that were either wrong from day one or that finally gave up sometime in the last decade.

Cup holders for every E36 configuration

Sedans, coupes, and convertibles share the same center console, and our E36 Cup Holders (Ashtray Replacement) drop straight into the space where the ashtray used to be. Two cup positions, textured to match the surrounding trim, and finally somewhere to put a coffee that isn't your passenger's lap.

The Compact (E36/5) has a different console layout, so we make a dedicated Compact single cup holder and a Compact double cup version designed specifically for that car. Different footprint, same OEM-style approach.

And because rear passengers deserve better than balancing drinks on their knees, our E36 Rear Cup Holders replace the old rear ashtray with proper cup positions.

Modern charging, three ways

The E36 has three excellent locations for adding fast charging without touching anything you don't want to touch: the cigarette lighter, the button covers on the console, and the ashtray itself.

Our cigarette lighter replacement charger uses OEM-style pins to plug straight in — no soldering, no wiring, reversible in seconds. For a cleaner install, the USB-A button cover tucks 24W of fast charging into an existing slot, and the dual USB-C button cover delivers 30W per port from two USB-C outlets in the same footprint.

The newest addition to the line — a dual USB-C cigarette lighter charger — combines both approaches: OEM-fit connectors, no wiring, but with two 30W USB-C ports for modern charging speeds.

The small stuff nobody sells anymore

Empty switch holes, missing radio caps, that useless cigarette lighter slot — these are the details that make an E36 interior look genuinely finished. Our Console Dash Blank Switch set covers the common gaps in one clean set. And if your car is missing the reverse RDS radio cover cap (also fits the Z3), we make a precise OEM-style replacement.

One more thing — cold air for the M50, M52, and S52

Not every E36 owner is running stock. If you've been chasing marginal intake gains without wanting to cut into the front bumper, our Fog Light Duct Cold Air Intake set repurposes the OEM fog light openings as intake ducts — 3-inch OD outlets, ABS construction, no permanent modifications. Left and right included, direct fit.

The full lineup

Everything we make for the E36 lives in the BMW E36 collection. And if there's a broken piece of your interior you've given up on finding a replacement for — send us a photo. Half of what we make started as a request from an owner in exactly that situation.
