Every Interior Part We Make for the BMW E38

The E38 is one of those BMWs that people either don't think about, or think about way too much. There's no in-between. If you own one, you probably fell in love with it years ago and haven't looked at another 7 Series seriously since.

We build parts for a lot of BMW models, but the E38 has stayed one of our favorite chassis to work with. Owners send us photos of interiors that look nearly perfect after 25 years of care. They ask smart questions. They send follow-ups after installing something. Basically, they treat the car the way we do.

Here's what we currently make for it.

Three cup holder options

The E38 has an ashtray. It was useful in 1996. If you're reading this in 2026, you probably want it replaced with something that actually holds a cup.

We offer three versions of that replacement. All three share the same fitment, drop into the original ashtray cavity, and match the surrounding OEM trim texture. Which one you pick is entirely up to you.

E38 Cup Holders at 38.99€. Two cup positions, no charging built in, no wiring needed.

E38 Cup Holders with USB Charger at 48.99€. Same shape with a 24W USB-A port integrated into the body. OEM fit connector, plug & play, ashtray replacement.

Dual USB-C version at 55.99€. Two USB-C outputs, 30W each. Same wiring approach as the USB-A version.

Why we bother making these

Most 7 Series owners we talk to have had their car for a long time and plan to keep it longer. That changes what a good interior part needs to be. It's not a phone mount that lives in the car for six months before you sell it. It's a piece that sits in the console every day for years, in every season.

So we use textured materials chosen to match the surrounding trim, size everything to fit the ashtray cavity exactly, and print with settings that hold up in the temperatures German car interiors see when parked in the sun. No cutting, no drilling, no permanent changes to the car. If you ever want to go back to stock, pull the part out and the original ashtray goes right back in.

Fitment

The E38 ashtray cavity is the same across every variant, from short wheelbase to long wheelbase, 728i all the way up to 750iL. Everything we make fits all of them. LHD and RHD are both covered.

The base cup holders need no electrical work at all. Either USB version needs a switched 12V feed, which is roughly a 15 minute job for anyone comfortable with a fuse tap or a splice. There's plenty of documentation on the E38 forums if you've never done it before.
